How to Reuse Your Old Electronics

Happy Earth Day! With warmer weather just around the corner, this is the perfect time of year to clean up your living space, reorganize your belongings, and evaluate how to get rid of things you no longer need.

We should take this opportunity to find the best possible way to get rid of out-of-the-ordinary items, such as old chargers, flip phones, even headphones!

At AfterShokz, we've done all of the research for you!

1. Recycle

Visit sites like GreenerGadgets.org or Call2Recycle.org. By simply typing in your zip code, you'll be connected to designated centers that will gladly accept your old electronics so they may be properly recycled. Believe us, you will feel great after clearing some of that clutter in your closet and helping the environment!

2. Trade it in for cash!

Electronics still have some value to them? Trade them in for cash! With sites like Gazelle.com, you can mail your old phones and computers and they will pay you for what they're worth. Extra cash in your pocket AND helping the environment? Sounds like a win-win to us!

3. Upcycle!

Upcycling is defined as the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. Just a fancy way of saying, "be creative!" Have an old computer monitor? Turn it into a cozy kitty corner! Maybe you have some old wired headphones that no longer work? Get some of your favorite peeps together and make best friend bracelets! Whatever you think of, you can probably find inspiration online for how to successfully transform your broken or outdated electronics into something creative and useful!

4. Emergency devices

In an emergency situation, we may need to get in contact with a hospital or the police. All cell phones are required to be able to connect to 911 regardless of whether the cell phone is activated or on a network. A great idea is to take that old cell phone you no longer use and keep it in the glove box of your car just in case you ever need a phone! Make sure you pack a car charger with the phone so it is ready when you need it. This way, you don't have to worry about your personal phone being your only lifeline in an emergency.
